Sugaring Off Sunday

Join The Farmers' Museum for what has become a springtime tradition for families and friends throughout the region. The event features historic and contemporary sugaring demonstrations, children's activities and more. A full pancake breakfast will be served from 8:30 am to 1 pm with other activities scheduled 9 am to 2 pm. Children's activities will take place in the Filer's Corners Schoolhouse throughout the day and maple cooking demonstrations will be held in the More House. Visitors are invited to have a taste of "jack wax" - hot maple syrup poured over snow! The blacksmith will also be working in his shop - stop in to watch a true craftsman. In addition, the Empire State Carousel, a favorite attraction at The Museum, will be open from 9 am - 2 pm. You can find spring items, unique gifts, crafts, and books at The Farmers' Museum Store and Todd's General Store open 9 am - 2 pm. Local maple products will also be for sale. As part of The Museum's efforts to "go green," Sugaring Off Sundays will feature biodegradable utensils and plates along with tabletop signage encouraging patrons to help reduce waste.

By mid-March many snowmobilers start putting away their sleds and start thinking about summer. Not in Old Forge, NY! The four major dealers: Ski Doo, Yamaha, Polaris, and Arctic Cat will premier their 2013 models, offering demo rides, weather permitting. Thousands of snowmobile enthusiasts take advantage of this opportunity to be the first to preview next year's line of sleds and gear.
