Celebration on Friday, the Fourth of July from 10:00-5:00pm. Readings of the Declaration of Independence and other documents of the time will take place at 11:0pm and 2:00pm. Throughout the day, museum staff, members of the Tryon County Militia and other re-enactors will engage in "living history" and visitor-interactive debates on the issues of taxation, self government, and armed militias rebelling against the government. All outdoor activities are admission free. The regular museum admission rates apply to indoor exhibits.

Come to Fort Stanwix National Monument and follow in the footsteps of those who won our independence by signing your own copy of the Declaration of Independence and enlisting in the Continental Army. Throughout the day, you will be able to take quill in hand, place your own "John Hancock" on the declaration, and take it with you. At 10:30am and 1:30pm, join the 3rd New York Regiment and receive training so you can assemble with the troops for the official readings of the Declaration of Independence inside the fort at 11:00am and on the west lawn of the fort at 2:00pm. Additional activities throughout the day include: Musket firings (in conjunction with the readings of the declaration). Children's 18th century toys, games and dress-up clothes, and make your own three cornered hat.

An American Tragedy, Picker's fourth opera, premiered at the Metropolitan Opera in 2005 to great acclaim. The Glimmerglass production celebrates the composer's 60th birthday and marks the premiere of the newly revised version by the composer and librettist. Hall of Fame Induction Weekend: Induction Ceremony

The Sunday, July 27th, Induction Ceremony will take place on the grounds outside of the Clark Sports Center, which is located on lower Susquehanna Avenue, just one mile south of the Hall of Fame. This year's events will be extra special, as 2014 marks the 75th anniversary of the opening of the National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum! The Ceremony is held rain or shine, unless severe weather forces the cancellation of the event. Professional interpreters will be provided for the hearing impaired. The Induction Ceremony historically lasts two hours. Seating for the event is unlimited and free of charge. A blanket or lawn chair is recommended for comfortable viewing. As the weather in Cooperstown can be quite warm in July, it is recommended that visitors bring a cap and sunscreen. Induction Merchandise and Museum membership packages are available for purchase at the Induction site. Refreshments are sold at the site and water is provided complimentary to visitors. Based on Theodore Dreiser's novel and inspired by a sensational murder trial in Herkimer, New York, Tobias Picker's opera explores a small-town boy's pursuit of his idealized dreams. An American Tragedy, Picker's fourth opera, premiered at the Metropolitan Opera in 2005 to great acclaim. The Glimmerglass production celebrates the composer's 60th birthday and marks the premiere of the newly revised version by the composer and librettist.
